Registered patents can give very strong protection to ensure that no one copies your inventions and ideas.
Iwan Emanuel says:
“Never disclose an invention before patenting it otherwise the possibility to obtain a patent will be lost. We can draw up confidentiality or non-disclosure agreements for you to keep, to ensure any pre-patent disclosure to potential business partners is done in a safe manner without jeopardising future patent rights. In a recent case in October, the courts looked at patent protection for computer software. The Patents Act 1977 provides that computer software is not protected by patents “as such”. However, many patents have been obtained in the UK and European Patent Offices where the software is part of an overall invention. On 27th October, in a case called Macrossan, the Court of Appeal held that no patent would be granted as the patent was a computer program and a business method, both of which cannot be patented. However, many other valuable inventions are patented every year so it is worth consulting us about this and any other area of intellectual property protection.”
